Who is Michael Leneman and why would I want to buy a boat from him?

Forget the used car salesman mentality, welcome to straight forward, direct answers to questions of suitability, design, and structural integrety.

When you buy a boat, you want to buy it from someone who knows them inside and out; someone who will take your needs into account, not their pocketbook.

For 35 years Mike has been racing, cruising and building multihulls. He is also a professor of Oceanography (MS in Marine Geology)
and he brings this knowledge to sailing, boat design, and instructional skills. He has built 2 - 40 race/cruise catamarans, 2 powercats, 3 - trimarans, designed kayaks for production, and this doesn't include the numerous small boats that he has built and designed. As a racer he is the most "winning" multihull sailor on the West Coast, having won  four Newport-Ensenada First Corrected with three different boats, he has held the S.B.-K.H. and Crew-of-Two 'Round Catalina course records for years. He was even French National Hobie Cat champion in earlier years and was instrumental in introducing multihulls to Europe. Additionally, he designed the aluminum mast and most of the "R" version of the Corsair 31 trimaran.

Mike also sits on the Ocean Racing Catamaran Association (ORCA) board. Between races, Mike loves to cruise and share his experiences while exploring Mexico, the Bahamas, the North Sea, the Mediterranean, the Caribbean and Hawaii.
It is simple: consulting with us before you launch into any notable project can save you a lot of time and money. We have extensive experience with all things related to multihulls and our low fee of $75./hr. will help you reach your goals. Whether you just need advise on buying (we can also act as a buyers broker at no charge) or whether you plan to build or modify something, we can help.

We do custom design work (Rhino) as well as advise on materials and where to get them inexpensively. As an example, a few years ago I found an entire box (50 pieces) of 3/8 in. carbon honeycomb 4 by 12 ft. panels for $20./panel. It was so cheap that I made the entire roof of my Bahamas house out of it. This roof is probably the lightest roof ever made that can be walked on and it cost less than plywood. Now we can not promise to find you the same deal but we are very good at figuring out how to make things happen for relatively low amounts of money.

To say that we think outside the box has become a cliche but in our case  very accurate. Save yourself a lot of time, money and grief, consult with us BEFORE you start out on your next boating or remote housing project.

If it's powered by the wind, we're into it !

I've even been known to sail on monohulls at times as well.

Cheers,
Mike Leneman
